As we mark the incredible milestone of our 35th anniversary, we’re taking a moment to shine the spotlight on the true driving force behind our success—our exceptional team. For over three decades, our company has been at the forefront of innovation and quality in manufacturing, and it’s our dedicated employees who have been the backbone of our achievements. We are thrilled to share the stories and insights about the remarkable individuals who have contributed their skills, passion, and perseverance like Roger Chavez. Chances are, if you have talked to FAMCO, you have most likely talked to Roger at one point or another. Roger has been the voice behind our inside sales since 2013 where his attention to detail and willingness to grow make him an exceptional asset to our customer service team.
Reflecting back to his beginning in 2013, Roger still remembers going through his job search and coming across the FAMCO website. He watched as our founder walked through the warehouse and greeted his employees on the splash page. Watching this video, he saw a company that cared about their employees in all positions. He immediately felt drawn to FAMCO, pursued an interview, and got hired on.
Roger explains that in his previous job that he was in a constant state of stress, dreading the weekdays and watching the time until the next break. When he moved to FAMCO, all of that changed. He is so glad Marty (our founder) “took a chance on him” as FAMCO has been a completely different work environment. Roger enjoys his position as it “all hinges on the sales team doing order entry”. Whether he is working alongside the team or communicating with customers, he finds purpose in what he is doing.
The best part about FAMCO in Roger’s eyes are the relationships made and the camaradarie shared with coworkers. Roger values his work, but it is the people he does the work with that make his job worthwhile. One of Roger’s fondest memories at FAMCO is the day that he finally felt comfortable and confident in his position. A customer had approached him with a unique problem that started conversation with our sales team. The team shared many laughs as they tested the product to meet the customers’ needs. At the end of the day, they had just as many questions as the customer, but it allowed the team to tackle a challenge together.
That is one thing that is unique at FAMCO, the way that the team collaborates. Roger mentions how so many other companies advocate about “teamwork” which usually is dependent on the strongest workers picking up the slack, but he says the team effort is different at FAMCO. “Everyone is trained to be competent and confident in their position, so problems aren’t handed off to others”. He feels like the workers really value their jobs and want to do well, which makes them more willing to assist others without managerial influence.
For those beginning their journey at FAMCO, Roger advises to “act like you care”. He tells newcomers to “present yourself professionally but don’t take it too seriously”. The FAMCO team encourages you to relax and be yourself. Roger believes that FAMCO has the opportunity to put together a team that can change the industry and encourage others to be part of that journey.
We are so happy to honor dedicated employees like Roger Chavez who have helped make FAMCO into what it is today. Roger is currently celebrating his “Marty’s Month” due to his 10 years of service at FAMCO. Marty’s Month is a month-long paid sabbatical available to all FAMCO employees after 5 years of employment to allow them the appropriate time off. Roger is very well-deserving of this break, although we look forward to having him back in the office.
In his years of persistence, tackling challenges, and sharing laughs with the team, Roger is just another example of where FAMCO has been and where we hope to go in the next 35 years.
