Employee of the Quarter: Georgane Cowan
At FAMCO our third Family Value is fostering a culture of teamwork. We are thrilled to recognize Georgane Cowan for embodying this value which is why she has been selected as our Employee of the Quarter.
For the last 7 years, Georgane Cowan has been our leader in accounting. Starting her position as a clerk, Georgane has worked her way into the Senior Accountant position, where she oversees both the accounting and financial performance of the company. With Financial Management, Georgane ensures all our bills are paid, enabling us to receive metal deliveries and everything we need to make our vents. Georgane also deposits all the money we receive from our customers and diligently follows up with those who are slow to pay, confirming they fulfill their obligations.
While fulfilling her job responsibilities, Georgane exceeds company expectations and continues her commitment after hours. Monitoring our system, Georgane continues to work from home, posting billing batches and ensuring production queue is clear for the next day. If there are any order errors, she meticulously researches and fixes each one. If a customer has any issues with their order, she is often the one they turn to for resolution. These are time-consuming errors, but Georgane recognizes the value in meeting customer expectations.
Her efforts are largely unseen, but crucial to our daily operations. While Georgane says she is comfortable with having her contributions go unnoticed, she is well-deserving of recognition for being a foundational member of our operation. The third quarter had some difficult external factors, but the management team recognized Georgane’s ability to attack those challenges head-on.
While working hard can sometimes have a negative connotation, Georgane finds enjoyment and pride in work ethic. Admittedly, part of the job is physically demanding. Georgane invests a lot of her time into tedious and time-consuming tasks, but those tasks are the most rewarding to accomplish for Georgane. She says her willingness to work hard is due to her true passion for her job.
Georgane explains that FAMCO has played a pivotal role in helping her build and enhance her skill set over the years. They have provided her with opportunities to participate in various training programs, such as Excel and the Theory of Constraints (TOC), both of which have been valuable in streamlining work processes and making her job more efficient. Georgane has also had the opportunity to take ownership of her role, reorganizing her responsibilities in a way that allows her to achieve more. Additionally, FAMCO has supported Georgane in going back to school, enabling her to earn her master’s degree and further develop her expertise. She explains that these opportunities have been crucial in her growth, both professionally and personally.
From the moment Georgane joined the company, she felt welcomed and supported by her colleagues, which made it easy for her to settle in and thrive. Over time, she has built meaningful, life-long friendships with the team, which speaks to the positive collaborative environment she’s experienced here. Prior to joining the company, Georgane worked at a large corporation where the office culture lacked warmth and joy. Georgane firmly believes that having a positive attitude not only makes her own work easier but also creates a more enjoyable and productive atmosphere for everyone. Georgane starts each day with a “happy heart” and makes a conscious effort to bring that positive energy into the workplace, helping to foster a spirit of goodwill among her colleagues.
Over the years, Georgane has eagerly participated in a variety of company events form cornhole tournaments and dunk tanks to pie-eating contests and Halloween costume competitions. Georgane largely contributes to these events for the sense of community these events create and the opportunity to connect with colleagues in a fun, informal setting. Georgane believes these gatherings are a crucial part of the company’s values, as they help to foster a family atmosphere that strengthens team bonds. As she puts it, “We have the daily grind, but having a way to bring joy into the workplace makes everything so much more special.” One of Georgane’s favorite events is the annual Food Drive, a friendly competition that encourages everyone to give back to the community while building camaraderie among the team. The family culture has become contagious as FAMCO employees dedicate time and money into serving the world around them.
Georgane advises anyone starting a job at FAMCO to “come in with an open mind and an open heart.” She believes that everyone brings their own personal experiences and culture to the workplace, and it’s rare to find a company that truly honors and values that diversity the way FAMCO does. Unlike the toxic environments often found in corporate America, Georgane highlights that FAMCO is dedicated to serving its employees. She credits the company’s success to its focus on the well-being of its team, noting that FAMCO’s mindset is always centered around the question, “How do our people feel?” Her advice to newcomers is to lead with your heart and work hard, as these values are key to thriving within the company.
Outside of work, Georgane’s heart belongs to her family. Whether it is exploring the outdoors, or celebrating various holidays, Georgane’s best days are the ones spent with her husband and two kids. Georgane also enjoys stepping into her creative side by making earrings and ornaments to sell at various craft fairs. She finds this as an outlet for her artistic ability and something her entire family can participate in.

Georgane’s dedication, hard work, and positive spirit make her an invaluable member of the FAMCO team and an embodiment of our third Family Value- fostering a culture of teamwork. Over her seven years with the company, Georgane has consistently gone above and beyond her job responsibilities, ensuring financial operations run smoothly, addressing customer concerns, and supporting her colleagues. Along with her dedication to her career, Georgane brings a contagious energy, effort, and heart to the company enabling FAMCO’s success and flourishing.
