Laurencio Arvos Leiva: The Glue of the Flashing Department
FAMCO is proud to recognize Laurencio Arvos Leiva, affectionately known as “Lauro,” as our Employee of the Month. With nearly 25 years of dedicated service, Lauro is not only a cornerstone of the company but also a role model of hard work, reliability, and commitment.
Since joining FAMCO 25 years ago, Lauro has remained an invaluable part of the team. As an Assembler III, he ensures that flashing orders are completed on time with the highest quality standards. His ability to run the production cell independently, step into leadership roles when needed, and mentor new employees makes him a true asset. One of the highest-producing team members, Lauro takes great pride in his work and the positive impact it has on his colleagues and the company as a whole.
This is not the first time Lauro has been recognized for his excellence. He has won Employee of the Month twice before. In 2024 alone, he was the most nominated employee, with over 20 nominations from his peers who continually recognize his dedication. Lauro’s work ethic is unmatched; he rarely misses a day or arrives late, reflecting his deep commitment to his role and FAMCO’s mission.
When asked why he believes he earned this award, Lauro humbly credits his leaders for recognizing his value. “I believe my leaders have seen my work and know they can count on me to achieve our goals,” he says. His ability to step up when leadership is absent and ensure that customer orders are met with efficiency and quality is a testament to his evolving role within the company.
Lauro thrives under pressure. When facing tight deadlines, he coordinates with different departments to ensure the entire manufacturing process runs smoothly. From working with laser and coil teams to ensuring the right people are assigned to tasks, he uses strategic planning and teamwork to overcome obstacles.
Despite having the opportunity to learn other areas of the company, Lauro remains dedicated to the flashing department. The challenges of custom orders push him to excel, and he takes great pride in his craftsmanship. His precise cutting skills have a direct impact on his team’s efficiency, ensuring smoother assembly processes. Before the implementation of laser technology, Lauro was one of the last employees to cut material manually, a skill that required precision to avoid waste. Reflecting on FAMCO’s growth, he celebrates the time-saving advantages of lasers while taking pride in his years of hands-on experience.
For Lauro, FAMCO is more than a workplace, it is family. He embraces the values that founder Marty instilled, believing that everyone at FAMCO is part of one big family. The company has provided him with stability and opportunities, allowing him to support his own family, raise his children, and build a future.
As a mentor, Lauro finds joy in training new employees, teaching them the trade, and watching them grow. His advice to newcomers is simple but profound: “Take things easy, make sure you are safe. No pressure. Ask questions and learn as you go. You will develop at your own pace.”
Outside of work, Lauro enjoys spending time with his family, relaxing at parks, and having picnics with his children and grandchildren. With four daughters, one son, at least 12 grandchildren, family remains at the heart of his life.
As he looks toward the future, Lauro hopes to visit his hometown one day and dreams of taking his son with him. At 67, he has no immediate plans for retirement, still feeling strong and capable in his work.
