Upcoming Home Improvement Trends for 2022

While most people tend to be aware of trends regarding popular Christmas toys and whatever glosses the front of the gossip rags at the checkout line, there are also equally passionate trends that revolve around the world of home improvement, and 2022 is no exception. While COVID-19 has completely upended how we work and live, it has also had a major impact on what we need in order for our homes to be functional and safe. So if you are looking for some ideas to spruce up your home for 2022, here are some of the trends that have been going on since the latter part of 2021 and will likely continue on into the next year.

Fully Functional Mudroom

First of all, what is a mudroom right? A mudroom is a designated area in or near the entry point of a home that serves as a drop-off point for shoes, coats, purses, keys, and anything else that may have come into contact with outside pollutants. The best way to keep these pollutants out of your home is to keep them isolated in an uncarpeted mudroom, covered with vinyl, where they can be easily wiped up with a surface cleaner.

So what items make up a fully functioning mudroom?

  • Shelving for shoes
  • Hooks for coats
  • Additional storage for purses and other carry items
  • Containers or a hook board for keys
  • Antimicrobial wipes
  • Sanitizer (spray and liquid)
  • Painter’s sink for cleaning contaminated items in

And these are just a few ideas to get you started.

At-Home Gym

Now no one is saying knock out the walls, but an at-home gym could be the perfect antidote for those who find themselves working exclusively from home. Now no one is saying to knock out the walls, but aside from the addition of a few dumbbells and other exercise tools as your space and budget allows, it really would not be that hard to install an at-home sauna.or a steam room.

At-Home Office

And speaking of those who now work from home, any improvements or renovations you make to your home office are tax deductible. Depending really on your own budget and imagination, this is your chance to create a home office that really works for you. Some at-home workers have found success with standing desks, while others simply want a chair that doesn’t leave them clinging to sanity at the end of the day. Even something as simple as dressing up your workstation with LED light strips can add a sci-fi like glow to your everyday routine.
