Description

The FAMCO CTS cone top chimney cap with screen is a standard replacement rain cap. It is used as an all weather (seamless) chimney cap to keep rain and snow from getting down the chimney pipe. This product is built for a single wall pipe and comes with a built in ¼ inch screen (Not rated as a spark arrestor, consult your local building codes for chimney screen requirements before purchasing). Please note: this model with built in screen has a fixed base and will not include an adjustable drawbolt collar. Quality constructed from heavy-duty 28 gauge galvanized steel. The FAMCO CTS cone top chimney cap with screen comes for pipe sizes ranging from 3 inch to 16 inch OD with total cap height ranging from 5¼ inch to 10 inch, see our specs sheet for more details. No - our caps would not be able to fit this pipe size, unfortunately.

My chimney is 9.25" outside diameter, do I need to buy a 10" that will have a 3/4" gap, or a 9" and slam in on hoping it don't break?

Hello,

Most people would likely go with the 10" model and come up with some sort of shim to fill that 3/4" gap. Otherwise, if you were to get one of our Chimney Caps without the Screen in it then it would come with an adjustable collar and you may be able to get 1/4" play out of it, in which case you could probably get away with using a 9" model. The caps with the screens though do not have those adjustable collars. So you're best options are going to be to use the 10" model with the screen and come up with some sort of shim(s), or get the 9" model without the screen and just install your own type of screen/meshing on it after it's installed if you really need that on there.

You would fix this cap over outside of your flue pipe. for additional secureness, you may use sheet metal screws as needed

No - these caps will not fit odd pipe sizes, they will be too tight or too lose.

our CTS6 model would be designed to fit 6" OD pipe, so unless you plan on improvising how the 7" base mnounts to your 6" pipe, we would recommend the 6" cap.

I ordered crimped bottom. Crimps were maybe 1/16th deep. Is that the norm?
