Description

The FAMCO SDWVP wall vent is a hooded wall vent that is primarily used for air exhaust applications. This vent is not rated for dryer ventilation, the screen will trap lint and could create a fire risk. Quality constructed from heavy duty 28 gauge pre-painted galvanized steel, available in black, brown, or white. The FAMCO SDWVP wall vent includes a ¼ inch insect screen to prevent duct intrusion by birds and many kinds of insects, as well as a built-in hinged backdraft damper. The FAMCO SDWP is available in sizes ranging from 3 to 14 inch diameter. Make sure to take accurate measurements to ensure you order the right size. The FAMCO SDWVP wall vent is manufactured by FAMCO in the United States and comes with a 1-year warranty against product defects and workmanship. This product does not come powder coated - it is a pre-painted finish galvanized steel

Hello Jonathan, if the vent was installed perfectly flush, this should not typically happen - if the vent is installed in a way that exposes the damper directly to the wind, we would recommend adding a small weight to the damper to help with this.

Was what I was looking for, but cost more than I think it should. I can purchase slightly smaller ones for $14 at Home Depot. I needed a slightly larger one, but paying more than twice as much seems like a lot. Ordering was easy and it was delivered pretty quickly.

All was as expected except 2 things.

1- I Thought I ordered one of the 4inch vent hoods without a screen. Both came with. No worries as it was easily cut out with a utility knife to suit the clothes dryer application.

2- I was disappointed that the hoods didn’t have pre-drilled holes for fastening to the building. Again no worries, as it was easily remedied.

Final note. I would likely search elsewhere for the product next time. Main reason being price point and initial expectations of products.

I would have given this five stars, but for the fact that the dampener does not close/ lay flat against the unit and being Oceanside get a lot of wind action and the hood could be a little more protective for my needs but other than that a well made product which is precise in measurement as using a 6” hole cutter through 4” thick wood was a tight and snug fit.
