At FAMCO, teamwork and dedication are more than just words, they’re what keep our operations moving every day. This month, we’re excited to recognize Luis Macias as our Employee of the Month!
Luis has been a part of the FAMCO family for nearly 20 years and his impact can be felt across the entire facility. If you’ve ever needed help, guidance, or someone to jump in and get the job done, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Luis.
Luis has spent two decades building skills, learning departments, and showing up with a mindset that’s all about consistency and improvement. Today, Luis is currently working with the “Buffer Team”, a team of highly-skilled individuals, with knowledge that extends through every cell, allowing them to fill in gaps across the plant.
When asked what his daily tasks look like, Luis described it simply: He’s there to support the team, especially as workloads get heavy or cells are missing members of their team. He steps in and keeps operations running smoothly.
When asked why he thinks he won Employee of the Month, he uplifted his peers sharing “there are a lot of people who deserve it. I’m not sure why I got it.”
This is Luis’s second time winning Employee of the Month, with many more nominations which come as no surprise. Luis gives his best effort no matter what cell he’s in. With no hesitation or complaints, Luis takes on whatever project needs to get done.
To Luis, teamwork is essential and personal.
“We need to take care of others. When we help each other, we help the company.”
That’s the type of attitude that strengthens a workplace. Luis understands that success at FAMCO isn’t about one person, it’s about supporting the people around you, day after day.
When asked what his favorite part of working at FAMCO is, Luis shared it’s the people.
“I love the atmosphere that we have here. The people I get to work with.”
Motivation is a mix of responsibility and personal pride for Luis.
“I have to pay my bills” he laughed and mentioned. But he also shared something deeper:
He enjoys the challenge of every day being different as he gets to learn and improve his skills.
“I like being challenged every day, not knowing what to expect. But it gives me opportunities to grow and improve.”
For those starting a career at FAMCO, Luis encourages them to not give up. He understands that the beginning can feel difficult and overwhelming as you learn operations. It’s easy to get discouraged early on, but Luis says sticking with it can make all the difference.
As employees learn new skills and begin to feel supported by the company, something changes – they realize why one of FAMCO’s Family Values is that we believe that the strength of our team is our greatest advantage.
“You find joy in your position. It makes you want to stay with the company and appreciate the job more.”
Outside of FAMCO, Luis shares his unique and fascinating hobby of customizing Hot Wheels cars.
He’s been collecting for over 20 years, and currently has around 800 Hot Wheels in his collection! It’s something he’s loved for as long as he can remember, and it’s clear he puts real creativity into it.
We are so grateful for the contributions Luis makes to the FAMCO team. For stepping in when things get busy, for supporting others without being asked, and for bringing a positive attitude to every cell you work in.
