At FAMCO, our success is built on the hard work, dedication, and positive energy of our employees. This month, we are thrilled to recognize Carlos Aceves Rojas, Senior Warehouse Associate, as our Employee of the Month!
Carlos has been with FAMCO for an incredible 26 years, a testament to both his commitment and his love for the company. He began his journey on the production floor, working in the wall vents cell, before transitioning to a “middleman” role between the shop and warehouse. About 15 years ago, he made the full transition into the warehouse, where he continues to thrive today.
Carlos’s daily responsibilities are essential to FAMCO’s operations. From checking inventory and coordinating with production, to organizing orders, moving pallets, and even helping with packaging, Carlos ensures that everything runs smoothly. Beyond his tasks, he brings something extra to the job, his sense of humor. “My job is making lots of jokes with my coworkers,” he shares with a chuckle.
What Carlos values most about his position is the autonomy it gives him. With years of experience, he knows exactly what needs to be done, and how to do it right. He takes pride in making smart choices when it comes to shipping orders and supporting his team without needing direction.
Even after two decades, Carlos is still focused on growth. He hopes to step into a lead role in the warehouse, adding more skills to his toolbelt. He also hopes to improve his English beyond FAMCO’s on-campus English classes which he recently graduated from. Carlos is eager to join more advanced courses, either at work or in conversational groups outside of work.
When asked what he enjoys most about FAMCO, Carlos points to the flexible schedule that allows him to finish work early and spend afternoons with his family. He also appreciates the friendly atmosphere, the collaborative environment, and being able to work indoors instead of battling the elements.
Carlos shares his surprise winning Employee of the Month, “There are a lot of good people working here, so it’s not easy to win,” he admits. But when asked why he believes he was chosen he jokingly shared “Because I’m smart!”. Carlos feels the real reason he was chosen for this award is because he is working hard for the team, and he is willing to go beyond the job description to help a team member. This recognition means a lot to Carlos, “I feel appreciated. Someone is recognizing the work I am doing”.
Carlos urges newcomers at FAMCO to “Keep an open mind. Listen to your peers. And have a can-do attitude”. He reminds them to not challenge the idea of what is in your job description, but when told what to do, ask, “How would you like it done?”.
If he could change one thing at FAMCO, Carlos would bring the shop, warehouse, and office together in spirit. “We all work for the same company. There’s no difference. We’re all going towards the same goal.”
Outside of work, Carlos loves spending time with his family. With five kids, his free time is often filled with camping trips, fishing, and the occasional vacation. Just last month, he visited Yellowstone National Park with his family, a memory he’ll cherish.
