Q
Does the neck-to-flange joint (and various rivets/welds at that joint) need to be caulked, or is it sealed adequately as manufactured? Ed Scherer asked on August 4, 2021
A

No - these joints and clinch points should not need additional caulk or sealant.

Q
It appears you have two types of rooftop vents for the kitchen exhaust. I have a 10/12 pitch roof. We average 50” of rain annually. Do you recommend one model over the other? I am installing 6” rigid exhaust duct vertically up to the exhaust vent so I don’t think I need the 3” extension. Your thoughts? Paul asked on May 9, 2021
A

Both our gooseneck and bath / kitchen exhaust vents will have the same style damper and screen, and function the same. The difference is largely aesthetic, although the gooseneck does have a larger opening, which some people prefer for higher CFM applications.

Q
Can the screen be removed to get into the hood for cleaning out potential bugs/bug nests? Kurt M Facco asked on April 20, 2021
A

The screen on the Goose Neck vent is held into the mouth of the hood with pressure, so it can easily be removed for cleaning.
